Huma ORIGIN OF ENGLISH   The history of English is conventionally, if perhaps too neatly, divided into three periods usually called  Old English (or Anglo-Saxon), Middle English, and Modern English .  According to a 2009 study by researchers at Reading University, the oldest words in the English language include  “I“, “we“, “who“, “two” and “three“ , all of which date back tens of thousands of years.
