THE SOLAR SYSTEM The sun together with the group of celestial bodies that are held by its attraction and revolve around it   The term Solar System refers to  the "family" of the Sun . The Sun is a star around which eight planets, among other celestial objects, revolve in orbits. This whole system of bodies is called the Solar System. Or it is a  collection of eight planets and their moons in orbit around the sun, together with smaller bodies in the form of asteroids, meteoroids, and comets. The planets of the solar system are (in order of distance from the sun) Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.   Our solar system consists of  our star, the Sun, and everything bound to it by gravity  – the planets Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune; dwarf planets such as Pluto; dozens of moons; and millions of asteroids, comets, and meteoroids.

The sun is the god visible to every being, is the basis of life of all creatures on earth. Along with the Sun God, Chhathi Maiya is also worshipped on this day. According to  Vedic astrology , Chhathi Maiya or Chhathi Mata protects the offspring and provides longevity to them.
